Ann Evans

I have attended St Cuthbert’s since the late 1980’s when I moved with my family from Aintree to Southport. My daughter was married here and my two grandsons were baptised here.

I have been a church warden for 2 years and am still ‘learning the ropes’. I am grateful for the help and support I’ve had from various people to help me settle in to this role. I am a member of the PCC, Mothers’ Union and Buildings Fund Committee.  I often read the lessons and lead the intercessions at Church services. I am also a trustee of St Cuthbert’s Pre-School Playgroup.

I was a teacher of modern languages for many years, mainly in Liverpool. No, it’s not a pre-requisite that to be a church warden here you have to have taught languages! I have many interests and hobbies. One of my main interests is quizzing and I am President of and play regularly in the Southport and Formby Quiz League. I have set many quizzes at St Cuthbert’s over the years. These, I think, have proved to be enjoyable and successful evenings and have raised money for Buildings Fund,Handbell Ringers Group and the Scout Hut Appeal.

St Cuthbert’s is a very important part of my life- spiritually and socially. I feel very privileged to serve it in any way I can and to regard so many people there as my friends.
