64th Southport (St Cuthbert) Brownie Unit

Brownies is the Girlguiding section for girls aged seven to ten years of age. Our pack meets every Tuesday during term time from 6:00pm to 7:30pm at St.Cuthbert’s Church Hall.

When girls first join the pack they find out all about becoming a Brownie before making their Brownie Promise at a special ceremony. Each girl belongs to a six which is a small group of brownies led by a sixer and a seconder. At our Brownies the sixes are Gnomes, Pixies, Sprites, Elves, Leprechauns and Imps and each six has its own mascot.

Our adult leaders are Brown Owl, Snowy Owl and Tawny Owl  and we have a wonderful rota of parent helpers who support us each week.

Brownies have lots of fun! We take part in indoor and outdoor activities that challenge us to do our best. Brownies follow a programme of activities called the Brownie Adventure and then Adventure On for the older girls. This is full of lots of exciting things to learn and do with different challenges and lots of fun and games. We also join in special events such as the Rose Queen, activities with other Brownie Packs and we go on Pack Holiday to Shirdley Hill.

We do our best to attend Church Parade which is usually on the second Sunday of every month. This is an important part of being a Brownie and Brownies take part in the service by carrying and escorting the flag, leading the readings or prayers and helping with the collection. There are lots of different Brownie Interest Badges to try such as Science Investigator and Circus Skills, Book Lover and Wildlife Explorer.
