GETTING MARRIED AT ST CUTHBERT'S

wedding ring

St Cuthbert’s is a beautiful church in an ideal location, and a popular venue for weddings.                                We seek to work with couples to make their day as special as possible.

Marriage in church is not only a witness to your friends and family, but it is also an opportunity to come together to pray for God’s blessing, to share your joy and to celebrate your love for each other.

Marriage in Church is one part of the life of the Church and demonstrates that you are taking your place as part of the Church Community. Consequently, to be married at St Cuthbert's, you will need to be able to show your links with the Church.

Qualifying Links

·         If you have been worshipping regularly at St Cuthbert's for six months.

·         If one of you lives in the parish. Click Roads in the Parish to see the list.

·         If one of you is on the church's electoral roll.

·         If one of you has at any time lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months.

·         If one of you was baptised in the parish.

·         If one of you was prepared for confirmation in the parish.

·         If one of your parents, at any time after you were born, has lived in the parish for at least 6 months.

·         If one of your parents, after you were born, has regularly attended normal church services for at least 6   months.

·         If your parents or grandparents were married in the church.

If you can answer yes to one of the above then you will be able to marry here, if you are unable to answer yes then you can create a connection by attending church on a regular basis.

You will need to contact our Rector to book an initial meeting to discuss the availability of the church, all the legal requirements, and the likely fees payable at the time of your wedding.

Please contact Reverend Rebecca either by e-mail or 'phone if you wish to discuss this.

Marriage after Divorce

The Church of England has set guidelines that allow Clergy to marry people who have been divorced. You will need to be prepared to discuss with the Rector the circumstances of the breakdown of the first marriage and to supply a copy of your decree absolute. The decision to offer marriage under these circumstances is at the discretion of the Rector

Please contact Reverend Rebecca either by e-mail or 'phone if you wish to discuss this.
